Twee as Fuck

I apologise for my absence the last few days.  I have been back at my Mum's house in Worcester with no computer access, but I am back now with lots of new followers, Yay!!! Fanks.
Pickle sends his love ♥♥♥

Now I am back I can start organising my new craft club called 'Twee as Fuck'.  Myself and three friends plan to meet once a month to drink copious amounts of Tea and make all sorts of delights.  I'm thinking bunting, granny squares and maybe a spot of pom-pom making. A cliche? probably. Do I care? NO!

I will be documenting it on here so expect lots of photos of wobbly stitching and tangled yarn.

Pom Pom flowers

The other day when perusing Pinterest I spotted a picture of pom poms on sticks and thought it was an amazing idea to make forever flowers, so I pinned it and then promptly forgot about it.  That is until the lovely Ismay Ozga posted a very similar picture on her blog and reminded me of the delights of sticking a pom pom on a twig.
Today on the way home from the supermarket I spotted a bunch of twigs that were perfect so here are my rather pretty pom pom flowers (with two more jars to fill at  a later date).

If you want to show me your bookshelf then please feel free.

Knitting inspiration

I am a massive fashion history geek so it was pretty inevitable that my knitting would be inspired by times past.  The winter dress of women in the 19th Century is particularly fascinating to me so I thought I would share some of my historical inspiration from the V&A archives with you.

I am very excited by all of the ideas whirling round my head for my new Oh Knit! collection, most of which are inspired by these kind of images.

Confessions of a foodaholic

Hi, I'm Kate and I am addicted to cook books. Make that seriously addicted to cook books. My amazon wish list is fit to bursting with them so I thought I would share the treasure I have been lusting after.

The Penguin Great Food Collection is a series of recipe books that span the finest of food writing from the past 400 years.  That and the wonderful Cover illustrations by Coralie Bickford-Smith and lettering by Stephen Raw make these a cook book lovers dream.

Peyton and Byrne, British Baking.  Written by London's finest Bakers, this book is full of lovely British treats.

I have made a few cakes from the first Primrose bakery book and been very pleased with the results so their new book, The Primrose Bakery Book by Martha Swift and Lisa Thomas is super exciting. It's isn't out until September though.

Scandilicious by Signe Johansen.  Who wouldn't want the recipe for Daim Cake and cinnamon and chestnut bread.

Baked in America by David Muniz and David Lesniak of the Outsider Tart bakery in London. It isn't even out yet but I just know that it is going to be a very sticky, fatty, sweet and delicious cookbook.  Full of Peanut butter too hopefully.   Can anyone else see the similarity between the cover of this book and of Cath Kidston's Make?

See you in the kitchen!

A little update

Since this is supposed to be a blog about my knitting but rarely is, I thought I should let you know that I do still knit.  I'm currently knitting a Donna Wilson Cat but I am eagerly planning a new range for Oh Knit!  Since starting Oh Knit! I have struggled to find a yarn that I really like to work with but I think my search might be over.  I have found a yarn that is suitably chunky, has enough wool content for it to be nice and soft yet still wash well and it comes in some amazing colours.  I don't want to give too much away but my new range is going to be bigger and better than ever before.  It won't be released until the Autumn though so watch this space.

In other news, and in the style of The Fast Show, this week I have been mostly reading: The Flavour Thesaurus bu Niki Segnit.  A total must read for any obsessive home cooks like myself.

I have been mostly smelling of: Devon Violets perfume from Rose & Co.  Smells just like Parma Violets.  Soooo lovely and old fashioned!

And I have been mostly wearing: Cheap but cheerful and very pretty Primark shoes.

I'm starting to sound like a mad women.  Does anybody actually remember The Fast Show?

Lust list!

Here are the things that have been making my heart go bitter patter and my wallet groan recently.

This Tara Starlet dress isn't mine yet but I hope it will be soon as I have a wedding to go too this Summer.  The best excuse to buy pretty dresses.

I'm really tempted to buy these light switch stickers by Henrietta Swift and stick them on every available switch and see how long it take for my boyfriend to notice.

This ASOS bag is soon to be mine. Squeee!  It has been a while since I had a new handbag.

I think I want everything from Rose & Co apothecary.  Roses, Violets, and Lavender are all high up on the list of my favourite scents. Yummy! They also have the best packaging.

My Macbook wants this sleeve from Boutique ID.  Amazing!
